The Tile Association in cooperation with the Stone
Federation Great Britain, the National Federation of Terrazzo Marble and Mosaic
Specialists, Ceram Research and Radlett Associates have produced a technical
paper to offer practical and useful guidelines on slip resistance of all forms
of hard floor coverings.
The paper considers:
· the
environment and location of tiled areas, and offers comments on appropriate
action.
· the
physics of slip explaining how slips happen
· test
methods currently available
· interpretation
of test results
· suggested
values for ultimate locations
· design
considerations and factors affecting slip, taking into health and safety issues
· cleaning
and maintenance procedures after tiling has been completed.
